The Co­bram His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety meets on the first Wed­nes­day of each month at the Old School in Punt Rd. Meet­ings start at 8 pm. The so­ci­ety’s aim is to fos­ter an in­ter­est in the his­tory of Co­bram and district. The so­ci­ety main­tains the Log Cabin and col­lects lo­cal items of in­ter­est to dis­play at the Old School. Ba­rooga so­cial bowls

Want to meet new peo­ple while learn­ing a new sport? Join Ba­rooga Sports Bowls Club’s bowlers’ cof­fee club on Wed­nes­days at 9.45 am. No pre­vi­ous ex­pe­ri­ence needed. Flat shoes are re­quired. Bring a friend or just come by your­self. Tuition is in a re­laxed game for­mat fol­lowed by cof­fee at var­i­ous lo­ca­tions. In­quiries to Ruth Camp­bell on 0438 426 615 or just turn up.

Spin­ners and weavers

Co­bram and District Spin­ners and Weavers meets ev­ery Tues­day at Yar­roweyah Hall from 10 am to 3 pm. Knit­ters and cro­cheters are wel­come. BYO lunch.

The Na­tional Li­brary of Aus­tralia has ad­vised the Co­bram His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety that the 1930-1954 edi­tions of the Co­bram Courier have been digi­tised and are now be­ing placed on Trove. To ac­cess the Courier news­pa­pers from 1914 to 1954, ei­ther Google ‘Trove’ or visit the Na­tional Li­brary web­site at www.nla.gov.au/ and click on ‘Col­lec­tions’ and then ‘News­pa­pers’. The so­ci­ety meets on the first Wed­nes­day of the month at 8 pm at the Old School. New mem­bers are wel­come.

Put on a red hat

Want to be part of the Red Hat So­ci­ety? The ‘Rav­ing Reds’ group is look­ing for new mem­bers — women aged 50 and over who have a zest for life and wish to take part in a fun-lov­ing friendly group that has no rules and no com­mit­tees. The only ex­cep­tion is the dress code: a red hat (or some­thing friv­o­lous) worn with a pur­ple out­fit. The group meets reg­u­larly at var­i­ous venues. Co­bram play­group

Co­bram Com­mu­nity House Play­group is held at Co­bram Com­mu­nity House, Punt Rd, Co­bram, on Tues­day and Thurs­day morn­ings from 10 am to noon dur­ing the school term. Cost is $2 per fam­ily per ses­sion. For more de­tails phone 5872 2224.
