Co­bram Roar 3 drew with Myrtle­ford 3

The un­der-13 Co­bram Roar boys went up against Myrtle­ford in an epic bat­tle of two teams want­ing re­sults.

Co­bram was up for the chal­lenge when Jesse scored the first goal.

The com­mit­ment from the Roar was sen­sa­tional. It was goal-for­goal, end­ing in a three-all draw.

The Co­bram de­fence was strong. Zainul, Caleb and Liam held their ground, with Michaele putting in a strong per­for­mance as keeper. Goals: was solid, in­ter­cept­ing many of Myrtle­ford’s at­tack­ing moves, in­clud­ing clear­ing a ball off the goal line.

Co­bram again pushed for­ward with Sonny putting a through ball for Jake Kalz, whose shot was well saved by the keeper.

Jackson col­lected the re­bound and passed it to Jake, who then slammed it into the goal to draw level again.

Af­ter half-time Co­bram pushed for­ward, with mid­field­ers Dea­con Forster, Luke Goodin and Lo­gan Stone run­ning hard try­ing to gain the as­cen­dancy. De­fender Thomas Corso and keeper Jor­dan Kelly were pro­vid­ing good re­sis­tance to Myrtle­ford’s for­ward moves, how­ever Myrtle­ford man­aged to sneak a third goal.

Co­bram pushed for­ward again and was re­warded af­ter Jackson put a through ball for Jake, who then scored a stun­ner from the side­lines to equal 3-3.

That goal sparked Co­bram’s spec­ta­tors into ap­plause but also sparked Myrtle­ford, who pushed for­ward straight af­ter the kick-off and cap­i­talised on a goal­mouth scram­ble to go 4-3 ahead.

The game con­tin­ued to go end to end in the fi­nal few min­utes but Co­bram was un­able to equalise, los­ing 4-3.

Co­bram Roar 3 d Myrtle­ford 1 With an­other beau­ti­ful au­tumn day, the Roar started off slowly, strug­gling to keep up with Myrtle­ford’s early pace.

Con­tin­u­ous pres­sure from Myrtle­ford al­lowed it to score the first goal.

This goal kick-started Roar’s comeback. Ri­ley Denny and Mikeal Corso both scored to put Roar in front go­ing into half-time.

Af­ter the break, Mikeal Ar­tavilla-Ben­nett forced an own goal.

It was a great come-frombe­hind win for the team.
