The under-13 Cobram Roar boys went up against Myrtleford in an epic battle of two teams wanting results.
Cobram was up for the challenge when Jesse scored the first goal.
The commitment from the Roar was sensational. It was goal-forgoal, ending in a three-all draw.
The Cobram defence was strong. Zainul, Caleb and Liam held their ground, with Michaele putting in a strong performance as keeper. Goals: was solid, intercepting many of Myrtleford’s attacking moves, including clearing a ball off the goal line.
Cobram again pushed forward with Sonny putting a through ball for Jake Kalz, whose shot was well saved by the keeper.
Jackson collected the rebound and passed it to Jake, who then slammed it into the goal to draw level again.
After half-time Cobram pushed forward, with midfielders Deacon Forster, Luke Goodin and Logan Stone running hard trying to gain the ascendancy. Defender Thomas Corso and keeper Jordan Kelly were providing good resistance to Myrtleford’s forward moves, however Myrtleford managed to sneak a third goal.
Cobram pushed forward again and was rewarded after Jackson put a through ball for Jake, who then scored a stunner from the sidelines to equal 3-3.
That goal sparked Cobram’s spectators into applause but also sparked Myrtleford, who pushed forward straight after the kick-off and capitalised on a goalmouth scramble to go 4-3 ahead.
The game continued to go end to end in the final few minutes but Cobram was unable to equalise, losing 4-3.

Cobram Roar 3 d Myrtleford 1 With another beautiful autumn day, the Roar started off slowly, struggling to keep up with Myrtleford’s early pace.
Continuous pressure from Myrtleford allowed it to score the first goal.
This goal kick-started Roar’s comeback. Riley Denny and Mikeal Corso both scored to put Roar in front going into half-time.
After the break, Mikeal Artavilla-Bennett forced an own goal.
It was a great come-frombehind win for the team.
