The Cobram Courier - - NEWS -

Former AFL player Heath Black will share his mental health struggles with local men next month.

Mr Black will be the guest speaker at the men’s health night in Numurkah on June 15.

The night will cover the importance of men regularly seeing their doctor and will also offer communication with local organisations.

People will have the chance to meet the service providers and Mr Black.

‘‘The event will utilise the engagement tool ‘pit stop’ to encourage men to take better care of themselves for a healthier lifestyle and improved wellbeing,’’ Numurkah District Health Service community development worker Emma Knapp said.

Ms Knapp said the night would reduce the stigma around mental health and asking for help and get farmers off the farm.

‘‘Although this event is for all men in the community, some promotion will specifically target farming communities,’’ Ms Knapp said.

Men’s Health Night is on Friday, June 15, from 6 pm to 10 pm at Numurkah Town Hall, Knox St, Numurkah. Tickets are available at www.eventbrite.com.au
