TUES­DAY VET­ER­ANS Vet­er­ans took to the old course for sta­ble­ford on June 5, with 61 play­ers con­test­ing the event. Arnie Man­ual won A-grade, scor­ing 37 points. Not far be­hind with 36 points was Ray Wal­lace. B-grade win­ner was Dave Mathews who won a count­back with 36 points. Run­ner-up also on a count­back was Brian Old­ham (per­sis­tence with his put­ter). Noel Stephens took out C-grade with 38 points and Ge­off Rud­dle was run­ner-up with 36 points. Golfer of the year points went to Noel Stephens four points, Arnie Man­ual three points, two points to Ray Wal­lace and one point to Ge­off Rud­dle. Near­est-the-pin winners: Dave Woods, Noel Mil­li­gan and Ross Lacy. Balls down the line went to 32 points.

WED­NES­DAY WOMEN On Wed­nes­day, June 6, the women played a stroke and putting round on the west course. This also in­cluded first round women’s club cham­pi­onships, Sla­men Cup, ag­gre­gate putting, fourth round monthly medal, third round Nether­sole Tro­phy and the Sil­ver Spoon. It was a big day. Monthly medal win­ner was Kerri Wilkie with 72 nett. Sil­ver Spoon and B-grade win­ner was Kerri Wilkie. Keep this up, Kerri and you will be play­ing off scratch soon. Well done. Medal day putting win­ner was Bev Wil­lis with 28 putts. A-grade was won by Vanessa Ranken with 76 nett. Chris Craw­ford was run­ner-up on a count­back. B-grade run­ner-up He­len Ad­kins had 75 nett and the putting went to Fay Doyle with 29 points. Jill Toohey with 74 nett on a count­back won the C-grade, with Sue Her­bi­son the run­nerup. Mary Rodger won the putting with her 29 putts. Down the line balls and pro balls went to 78 nett. WED­NES­DAY SU­PER VETS The su­per vets played a stroke nine-hole event on the old course. Graeme Landy with 32 nett won the su­per vets. He also won the near­est-the-pin. Balls went to 39 nett: Peter Mansell. Gi­u­liana’s prize was won by Don Dodd. Next week: back nine, old course at 9 am.

THURS­DAY Men and women played sta­ble­ford on the old course with 90 play­ers, with the winners scor­ing well. A score of 43 points saw Noel Mil­li­gan win A-grade, while in B-grade the win­ner with 40 points was Colin Smith. Near­est-the-pins were won by Tony Hardy, Rod Elleray and Avis Liep­skalns. Balls down the line went to 34 points. Women’s win­ner with 40 points was Gai Mitchel­son. Christina Hr­dina was near­est­the-pin and the balls went to 30 points.

JUNE TOUR­NA­MENT Satur­day, June 9 was day one of the three-day June tour­na­ment, with men and women play­ing sta­ble­ford on the west course. Men’s A-grade win­ner was Freddy Bar­ton with 40 points, ahead of run­ner-up Joe Hr­dina with 39 points. Ray Find­lay kept his hat on to win B-grade with 37 points, and Paul Wis­nei­wski was run­ner-up on a count­back with 36. C-grade win­ner John Spencer had 35 points and with 33 points Kevin Ansell came in run­nerup. Balls went to 30 points. Women’s A-grade win­ner was Tracey Jones with 34 points, with To­nia Sanft run­ner-up with her 32 points. Christina Hr­dina won B-grade with 33 points and run­ner-up San­dra Mar­tel had 29 points. Near­est-the-pins were won by Don Hendry, Graeme Ken­way, Steve Gar­bellini, Max Stew­ard, Sandy Berra and To­nia Sanft. Sun­day, June 10 was day two of the June tour­na­ment, with four-ball best-ball sta­ble­ford on the old course. The pair­ing of Phil Pears and Phil McNa­mara, vis­it­ing golfers from Croy­den Golf Club, had a great win with 45 points to take out the event. Lo­cals Ray Bill and Joe Hr­dina came in run­ners-up with 43 points. Third place went to Barry Mack­lin and Robert Tobais with 42 points on a count­back. Hus­band and wife team Frank and Ruth Mess­ner com­bined well to score 42 points to take out fourth place. Ray and Mar­garet Wal­lace, an­other hus­band and wife team came in fifth with 41 points on a count­back. Balls down the line went to 38 points. Near­est-the-pins were won by Paul Treloar, Ge­orge Hig­gins, Ray Bill, Peter Gmerek, Maryanne Stoet­trup, Christina Hr­dina, and Janita O’Gor­man. Day three of three was men and women’s sta­ble­ford on the west course. The men’s A-grade win­ner was Stu­art Croy­don from Croy­den with 36 points. Run­ner-up was An­thony Reibel from Com­mon­wealth Golf Club with 35 points on a count­back. B-grade was won by Louis Fly­touris from Riverview Golf Club with 35 points and run­ner-up from, from Ring­wood, was Paul Tonna with 32 points. The wel­comed visi­tors reigned supreme on Mon­day. Balls down the line went to 29 points. In the women’s com­pe­ti­tion, Bev Wil­lis won with 35 points. Green Acres Golf Club’s was Suzanne Leong had 33 points to be run­ner-up. Balls down the line went to 28 points. Near­est-the-pins were won by Peter Gmerek, Barry Gook, Stu Robertson, Barry Mack­lin, Christina Hr­dina, Donna Han­cock and Bev Wil­lis.

SUN­DAY SLOMEN On Sun­day, June 10 the slomen played a nine-hole comp spon­sored by the Spor­ties chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer. Peter Bar­rie won A-grade with 38 nett. B-grade with 37 nett was won by Ron Con­nor, who also won the monthly medal. Long­est drive: Mo. Near­est­the-pin: Peter Bar­rie. NAGA: John Dob­bie. Balls to 41 nett. Round seven, June 6 The boys are con­tin­u­ing to im­prove each week, with dif­fer­ent goal kick­ers pop­ping up in each game. Grand fi­nal and pre­sen­ta­tion night for all ju­nior foot­ball teams will be Wed­nes­day, June 27. All teams will play on this night. Aus­kick­ers will have their last ses­sion on Wed­nes­day, June 20, fin­ish­ing with a sausage siz­zle and cer­tifi­cate pre­sen­ta­tions. All fam­i­lies with out­stand­ing pay­ments for ju­nior foot­ball, your pay­ment would be greatly ap­pre­ci­ated.
