The Cobram Courier - - NEWS -

For photography lovers looking for that next incredible shot, the perfect location is just 25 minutes down the road from Cobram.

Lake Mulwala has been lowered by about 4.5 m for works on the lake foreshore and to control weeds, creating a stunning visual setting.

The lakeside councils have joined forces to promote the natural spectacle which is unfolding.

Moira Shire Mayor Libro Mustica said the lowering of the lake happened every few years to help control the invasive aquatic weed Egeria densa.

‘‘A lowered Lake Mulwala provides a unique spectacle,’’ Cr Mustica said.

‘‘The exposed tree stumps, as well as the structure of the lake bed and the original route of the Murray River, are revealed.

‘‘There are endless opportunities for wonderful photographs, and budding explorers will love walking along the lake’s edge to see what the receding water reveals.

‘‘And if you look very closely there is even the odd shipwreck or two,’’ he said.
