TUES­DAY VETER­ANS Co­bram Ba­rooga veter­ans played a stable­ford on the west course on June 12. Freddy Bar­ton scored 39 points off his hand­i­cap of seven to take out A-grade, closely fol­lowed by David Wil­son­who scored 37 points off a nine hand­i­cap to be run­ner-up. B-grade was won by John Capp with 37 points and Kevin Hock­ing was run­ner-up on a count­back with 36 points. Golfer of the year points: Freddy Bar­ton four points, David Wil­son three points, John Capp two points and one point to Kevin Hock­ing. Near­est-the-pins were won by Brian Old­ham and Colin Rankin. Balls down the line went to 31 points.

WED­NES­DAY WOMEN The women took to the old course for stroke and putting, sec­ond round club cham­pi­onships, the Sla­men Cup and ag­gre­gate putting. Three-grades com­peted with A-grade win­ner Chris Craw­ford scor­ing 76 nett on a count­back from Mar­garet R. Wal­lace. Mar­garet also won the putting with 29 putts. He­len Bar­clay won B-grade on a count­back from Mar­garet A. Wal­lace with 78 nett. Marg Ma­jernik won the putting with 32. C-grade was won by Val Fen­ner with 78 nett. Run­ner-up was new mem­ber Vicky White with 79 nett. Betty Old­ham won the putting with 32. Down the line balls and pro balls went to 79 nett.

WED­NES­DAY SU­PER VETS Wed­nes­day su­per vets’ nine-hole stroke com­pe­ti­tion was played on the west course and won by Graeme Landy with 33 nett. Balls to 40 nett were won by Max Har­ri­son, Peter Mansell and Norm El­liott. John Dob­bie won Gi­u­liana’s prize. Next week is the old course back nine at 9 am.

THURS­DAY Med­ley par on the west course saw 70 golfers take to the course on June 14. Colin Rankin won A-grade with 2-up, and the ever con­sis­tent ball striker Barry Hawthorne was 1-up to win B-grade. Near­est-the-pins were won by Ray Stringer, Chris Tom­lin­son, Paul Wis­nei­wski and Andy Wal­lace. Balls down the line: four to square, three to 1-down, two to 2-down and one to 3-down. Visi­tor Su­san Horne won the women’s com­pe­ti­tion with 6-down on a count­back from Ruth Mess­ner.

SATUR­DAY Men’s stroke/monthly medal and women’s stroke were played on the west course on June 16. May’s monthly medal was a play-off be­tween Dale Casley and Kevin Keat­ing, with Casley win­ning his first. June’s monthly medal was won by John Parkin­son with 69 nett. Parkin­son also won the A-grade nett. A-grade scratch win­ner was Gary Hunt with 76 off the stick. B-grade nett win­ner with 76 was Andy Wal­lace. Tony Wouters had a gross score of 103 to win B-grade scratch. Near­est-the-pin win­ners: Matt Geisler, Ray Wal­lace, Stu­art Humphries and David Wil­son on the 13th, which was the money hole. Balls down the line: four to 72 nett, three to 73, two to 79 and one ball to 82 nett. Women’s win­ner was Rowena Wal­lace with 79 nett. Carolyn Hug­gins had a near­est-the-pin on the 13th and eas­ily made birdie. Balls down the line went to 82 nett.

SUN­DAY SLOMEN Sun­day slomen nine-hole was played on the old course for stroke. Ge­orge Stan­ley kindly spon­sored the event. Peter Bar­rie won A-grade with 44-6-38 and B-grade was won by Roy Hart with 52-16-36. Balls down the line to 42 nett: N. El­liott, J. Dob­bie, B. Stan­ley and R .Con­nor. Near­est-the-pins: R. Con­nor and J. Dob­bie. Long­est drive: Ryan Med­craft. Ge­orge Hock­ing won the NAGA on a count­back. Next week: front nine, west course, 7 am to 8 am to play for the monthly medal.

SUN­DAY A field of 16 play­ers braved the cold and wet con­di­tions on Sun­day for the med­ley stable­ford on the west course. John El­lis had the best score of 31 points. John Beard and Ashleigh Tea­gle both had 30 points, win­ning three balls each. Neil Mackay won two balls and Carolyn Hug­gins one ball.
