Getting out and about
Bluebird four-year-old kindergarten children were out and about in the local community last term.
‘‘The children have begun to develop an understanding of where they live, professionals that help them in our community and, more importantly, that they belong to our community,’’ teacher Carmel Freestone said.
‘‘This term, one of our projects was professionals in our community and each week children would choose a profession in our community that they would like to learn more about.
‘‘This allowed the children’s interests and voice to drive our program,’’ she said.
The children had the chance to become bakers, milk cows, learn about microchipping animals at the vet and even enjoyed a trip to the dentist.
Down on the farm: The children visited a local dairy farm and had the opportunity to milk cows and learn about life on a farm.
Back to nature: The children got to explore many of the area’s beautiful local environments.
