Border job is ‘critical’
Luke Wilson is Victoria’s first cross border commissioner.
The Victorian Government said the appointment was a win for locals living and working across the state’s borders.
Regional Development Minister Jaala Pulford announced the appointment of Mr Wilson to the critical new role.
Mr Wilson will be responsible for promoting the interests of Victorian border communities, resolving issues, and developing common approaches with neighbouring states.
Mr Wilson has had a long career in the public and private sectors, with experience in areas including agriculture, forestry and energy.
He holds a senior position in the Victorian Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources and will start in the new role this month.
Mr Wilson will be based in Wodonga and divide his time between a number of Victorian Government offices along the borders.
