Men’s health night

Co­bram Ba­rooga Ki­wa­nis Club is hold­ing a men’s health night at Co­bram Bowl­ing Club tonight. Guest speaker will be So­nia Stra­han, a prostate can­cer spe­cial­ist nurse from GV Health Shep­par­ton’s on­col­ogy unit. Ar­rive at the club at 6.30 pm for a 7 pm start. RSL meet­ing

The Oc­to­ber gen­eral meet­ing will be held on Mon­day at 7.30 pm in our new meet­ing room at Co­bram Ba­rooga Golf Club, Golf Course Rd, Ba­rooga. Mem­bers, visi­tors and es­pe­cially prospec­tive mem­bers are in­vited to the meet­ing, where the guest speaker will be Co­bram Sec­ondary Col­lege prin­ci­pal Kimberly Tem­pest. For­mer and serv­ing mem­bers of Aus­tralia’s De­fence Force are el­i­gi­ble and, if you have a rel­a­tive who served in the armed forces of Aus­tralia or her al­lies, you may be el­i­gi­ble to be­come an af­fil­i­ate mem­ber of the RSL. Our sub-branch is cur­rently cre­at­ing care pack­ages to send over­seas to the troops on de­ploy­ment, or you could vol­un­teer to sell to­kens dur­ing the up­com­ing poppy ap­peal. Com­mu­nity lunch

The Co­bram Se­nior Cit­i­zens Choir will sing at Oc­to­ber’s com­mu­nity lunch at Co­bram Com­mu­nity House as a part of the Vic­to­rian Se­niors Fes­ti­val on Fri­day at noon. Book­ings must be made by phon­ing 5872 2224 to as­sist with cater­ing.

Flower show

The Co­bram Unit­ing Church Ladies Guild will hold its an­nual flower show on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 12, at Irvin Hall in Hay Ave, Co­bram. Doors open at 1.15 pm. Cost is $3, and $5 for af­ter­noon tea. Cards day

The Ladies Hos­pi­tal Aux­il­iary is hold­ing a cards day on Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 18 from 11 am at the Ba­rooga Bowls Club, Snells Rd, Ba­rooga. You don’t have to play cards — bring along a game and your friends for a day of fun. There will be raf­fles and trad­ing ta­bles and cost is $20. Safe plate day

Co­bram po­lice, Ki­wa­nis Club and Neigh­bour­hood Watch will hold a safe plate day on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 20 in the Wool­worths car par in Punt Rd, Co­bram, from 9 am to 1 pm. Bring your car in and get oneway screws fit­ted to stop thieves from re­mov­ing the num­ber plates and us­ing them to com­mit petrol drive-offs and other crimes. Screws are fit­ted for a gold coin do­na­tion and all pro­ceeds to go to Heartkids Vic/ Aus­tralia. For in­for­ma­tion phone Ron on 5872 2376.

Se­nior cit­i­zens

Co­bram Se­nior Cit­i­zens are al­ways look­ing for new mem­bers. The group has started re­hearsals for its Christ­mas con­cert. You do not have to be a good singer, it is all about the fun and en­joy­ment. So come along and have a sing, cuppa and chat after­wards.
