Ready for show
Nathalia Rotary Club’s seventh annual Art Show will have a different feel this year after Rotary decided to move it from late winter, to warmer weather conditions in mid-spring.
On from October 26 to 28 at Nathalia Community Centre, club treasurer and show committee chair Eve Attwood is confident the date change will add an extra dimension to the show.
‘‘We hope to attract more artists and visitors at this time of year, we think the warmer weather will help invigorate the event,’’ she said.
‘‘Already we have had interest shown and requests for entry forms from first-time artists to our event which is exciting.
‘‘New to the art show is the featured artist and Cobram artist Melida Lempio, who will feature a variety of her pieces at the event.’’
State Member for Shepparton Suzanna Sheed will officially open the exhibition on Friday, October 26, at 7.30 pm
Art will be again be judged by Julie Gross McAdam and winners announced on opening night.
On Friday, there will be finger foods and drinks. There will be catering by Nathalia Country Women’s Association Nightwatch group on Saturday and Sunday, with proceeds going to CWA causes.
There will also be a raffle, with tickets costing $2 each or three for $5 for a framed pastel piece called Lost in Time by Ms Lempio.
The raffle will be drawn about 3 pm Sunday. The winning artist for the people’s choice award will be announced at the same time.
On Friday night, doors to the Nathalia Community Centre, Robertson St, Nathalia, will open at 6.30 pm. Entry is $10 an adult.
The venue will be open between 10 am and 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Entry is $5 an adult on those days.
