Grants to im­prove aged care

Aged care ser­vices in the Mur­ray elec­torate can ap­ply for grants to im­prove op­er­a­tions, for the ben­e­fit of lo­cal se­niors.

Fed­eral Mem­ber for Mur­ray Damian Drum said providers could ap­ply for one­off grants of up to $500 000 to for in­fra­struc­ture ex­ten­sions.

‘‘Whether it’s im­prov­ing ac­ces­si­bil­ity, ex­tend­ing a kitchen or car­ry­ing out much­needed up­grades, I urge lo­cal op­er­a­tors to ap­ply for this grant op­por­tu­nity,’’ he said.

‘‘Our se­nior com­mu­nity mem­bers need ac­cess to the best pos­si­ble ser­vices and fa­cil­i­ties in their own com­mu­nity.

‘‘This grant could en­able our small town aged care fa­cil­i­ties to get much-needed in­fra­struc­ture im­prove­ments.’’

Ex­ist­ing Gov­ern­ment-ap­proved res­i­den­tial and home care providers can also ap­ply.

Ap­proved Com­mon­wealth home sup­port pro­gram providers, such as Meals On Wheels might also be el­i­gi­ble.

Ap­pli­ca­tions for the aged care re­gional, ru­ral and re­mote in­fra­struc­ture grants will close on Oc­to­ber 24 at 2 pm. Ap­pli­ca­tion forms, guide­lines and in­for­ma­tion is avail­able at
