Cobram

The Cobram Courier - - SPORT -

On Saturday, in pictureperfect weather, the inaugural Frank Dunkley Memorial Shield was contested at Cobram between Cobram and Strathmerton.

This event honours Frank Dunkley, who was a stalwart member of both clubs.

Each club fielded six teams of fours and the games were played in the spirit that would have made Dunkley proud.

While the shield, donated by Dunkley’s family, was won by Cobram, all are looking forward to the chance next year to spend a day on the green at Strathy remembering Dunkley.

It was also a good chance for a pre-pennant hit-out and another 24 Cobram players enjoyed an intraclub game — also won by Cobram.

The 2018-19 pennant season starts this week.

On Friday the division side one will play Finley at home, but division two has received a forfeit from Tocumwal Golf (3) and will practise at home at 10 am.
