Using the sun to save money
Residents looking to make the most of Cobram’s sunshine can claim back half the cost of their solar panel installation.
Households with a joint income of less than $180 000 a year can claim back up to $2225 on solar power installation until June 30.
The rebates are only available to owneroccupiers with homes valued at less than $3 million.
Solar Victoria estimated the average household could save up to $890 a year on bills with a 4 kw system.
Those receiving a rebate could expect to repay the cost through savings in about five years.
‘‘The Solar Homes Program will help 720 000 households cut their energy bills with either solar panels, solar hot water systems or solar batteries,’’ Victorian Energy, Environment and Climate Change Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said.
Confirmation of eligibility can only be provided by Solar Victoria.
Residents should check eligibility and that of their proposed installer before signing a contract.
Rebates are only available for quality approved products, installed by accredited installers.
Solar Victoria was set up by the Victorian Government to deliver the package.
