Nominate a top Australian
Time is running out to nominate individuals or organisations which have enhanced and provided for the local community for the 2019 Moira Shire Australia Day Awards.
Nominations close Friday, November 9, so now is the time to nominate Australian citizens who have made a significant voluntary contribution during 2018 or who have given outstanding service to the local community for many years.
Mayor Libro Mustica said it was not just individual people who could be nominated.
‘‘A project or event that a school, community group or organisation has held which went that extra mile to help their local area can also be nominated,’’ he said.
‘‘The Australia Day Awards are an opportunity to recognise those in the community who, over 2018, gave tirelessly for the benefit of others.
‘‘We are fortunate to have so many communityminded people in Moira Shire and the Australia Day Awards provide us with a fantastic opportunity to recognise their commitment, contribution and effort.’’
There are five award categories — Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year, Community Organisation of the Year and Environment Project of the Year.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from Moira Shire Council’s website at www.moira.vic.gov.au or picked up from Council’s customer service centres in Yarrawonga and Cobram.
