Govt pro­gram gets 2000 Back to Work

MORE than 2000 Queens­lan­ders are back on the job thanks to the State Gov­ern­ment’s $100 mil­lion Back to Work re­gional jobs pro­gram.

Em­ploy­ment Min­is­ter Grace Grace said the Back to Work pro­gram had sup­ported 987 em­ploy­ers to hire 2103 work­ers in re­gional Queens­land.

“There are a fur­ther 759 ap­pli­ca­tions pend­ing ap­proval, tak­ing the num­ber of peo­ple sup­ported back to work through this pro­gram to 2862,” Ms Grace said.

“Small- to medium-sized busi­ness are lead­ing the way, with 445 ap­pli­ca­tions from busi­nesses with one to four em­ploy­ees and 704 ap­pli­ca­tions from busi­nesses em­ploy­ing five to 19 peo­ple.

“Re­gional em­ploy­ers have so far re­ceived al­most $9.6 mil­lion in sup­port pay­ments, money they can use to help grow their busi­ness.”

Ms Grace said the $20,000 Back to Work Youth Boost had proved equally pop­u­lar, and had been ex­tended to Oc­to­ber.
