STRONG winds buf­fet­ing Syd­ney Air­port caused travel chaos for re­gional air pas­sen­gers on Thurs­day.

With wind gusts peak­ing at 57kmh at 8.30am, the air­port was forced to shut down two of its three run­ways.

Coffs Har­bour flights were in­cluded in the 68 morn­ing flights af­fected. Fifty-two flight were can­celled and 16 de­layed.

Strong winds caused travel chaos.
