Police locate man reported missing, dead at crash scene
A MAN reported missing to police was found dead at the scene of a motorcycle crash.
About 3am on Tuesday, September 12, police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command were called to a home at Coramba to take a report on a 40-year-old missing man.
Officers tried to determine the movements of the man.
About 4.30pm that day, the missing man was located at the scene of a single-vehicle crash in East Bank Rd at Coramba.
Investigators believe the motorcyclist failed to negotiate a bend in the road before hitting a guide post, running through a ditch and striking a fence.
Police said it appears the motorcycle rider left the roadway about 700m from Coramba Rd.
Coffs Harbour Highway Patrol Sergeant Jarrod Langan said the rider was the only person on the bike.
Police set up a crime scene before the motorcycle was removed for further forensic examination. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
