CREAM OF THE CROP
Region’s best female junior soccer players on show
OUR most talented junior girls are going to take on the best from around the northern NSW region this weekend.
North Coast Football’s 12 years and 14 years girls teams will be kicking off this morning at the C.ex Coffs International Stadium as part of the Telstra State SAP Championships For Girls.
The local soccer girls are part of more than 225 players from Hunter Valley Football, Football Mid North Coast, Macquarie Football, Northern Inland, NNSWF Newcastle SAP, NNSWF Select SAP, Adamstown Rosebud JFC, Wallsend FC and Warners Bay FC.
Northern NSW Football chief executive David Eland said this weekend provides an enormous opportunity for the skilled juniors to further their footballing dreams.
“The championships provide the participants with an opportunity to represent their respective Zones and Skill Acquisition Programs and benchmark their development against their peers in a competitive environment,” Eland said.
“The championships are a critical component of NNSWF’s endorsed Talented Player Pathway.
“The Technical Panel, headed by NNSWF technical director Michael Browne, will be identifying and
monitoring players, including the girls in the Herald Women’s Premier League, who have the potential to represent NNSWF at next year’s National Youth Championships and to transition to the Jets Academy.”
Northern NSW Football and the C.ex Coffs International Stadium has already hosted the Westfield National Youth Championships for Girls and the Telstra SAP State Championships for Boys this year.
The two will play host to the FFA National Youth Championships for Boys in a week’s time.
