Now into its fourth year of op­er­a­tion, Karl Phillips has built a rep­u­ta­tion for look­ing af­ter his cus­tomers.

He says it’s only nat­u­ral he treats his cus­tomers so well as he’s ap­pre­cia­tive of the loy­alty they’ve given him.

“You look af­ter peo­ple in Coffs Har­bour and you usu­ally get pretty loyal cus­tomers,” Karl said.

With more than three decades of me­chan­i­cal ex­pe­ri­ence be­hind him, Karl of­fers a qual­ity of work­man­ship and ser­vice you can rely on at Ad­vanced Au­to­mo­tive on the cor­ner of Beryl St and the Pa­cific High­way.

“Be­ing a smaller shop, there’s a lot more per­sonal at­ten­tion,” he said.

“I re­ally en­joy my work and en­joy get­ting to know my cus­tomers.

“The sup­port I’ve had from all my cus­tomers and the lo­cal com­mu­nity has been fan­tas­tic.

“It’s thanks to them that Ad­vanced Au­to­mo­tive is here.”

It’s that per­sonal touch Karl be­lieves gives Ad­vanced Au­to­mo­tive Ser­vices an ad­van­tage.

He says com­mu­ni­ca­tion with cus­tomers is paramount.

“It’s mak­ing sure peo­ple know what you’re do­ing to their car and let­ting them know how much it’s go­ing to cost be­fore you start work­ing on it.”

But Karl is more than an old­fash­ioned ‘grease mon­key’ as he pos­sesses a strong elec­tri­cal di­ag­nos­tic abil­ity to cover all mod­ern ve­hi­cle sys­tems.

Lo­cated in the Beau­re­paires build­ing, you will get qual­ity ser­vic­ing, rego checks, a wide range of di­ag­nos­tic skills on both new and later model ve­hi­cles, and all man­ner of me­chan­i­cal re­pairs at Ad­vanced Au­to­mo­tive Ser­vices.

It’s those skills the pro­pri­etor is fast pass­ing on to sec­ond year ap­pren­tice Billy Maple­son, who he says has be­come an im­por­tant mem­ber of the work­shop.

“Billy has al­ready built a solid knowl­edge base and is get­ting bet­ter with each new ex­pe­ri­ence,” he said.

“Billy has pro­gressed a lot fur­ther than a lot of other apprentices at this stage.”

Karl said the fu­ture was now about main­tain­ing the high stan­dards his cus­tomers had be­come ac­cus­tomed to.

“We’ll con­tinue do­ing what we’re do­ing and im­prove where we have to.”
