THUMBS UP, THUMBS DOWN

The Coffs Coast Advocate - - YOUR SAY -

I WAS checking the surf at Diggers and noticed a man struggling in a strong rip at the north end of the beach. He started to raise his hand in distress and began to go under the water. As I was fully clothed I ran down to the water’s edge, unsure of what to do and saw hardly anyone on the beach except for a guy with a metal detector. He sprang into action, jumping into the water to save him. I want to give a shout to that awesome Aussie bloke for saving a man’s life. Maddey Leigh TO those responsible for forcing people to pay to park at any hospital. I recently had to use the boom gate pay machine at Coffs Harbour Campus on a dark, rainy night and found it extremely difficult and frustrating. The instructions cannot be read under poor conditions and my ticket became saturated, as did my arm and car interior. Having to pay to visit the sick or dying is bad enough, but not providing decent cover over the money machine is not on. John Thomson
