Home­less­ness

THE Mid North Coast will par­tic­i­pate in a plan to re­duce home­less­ness in re­gional ar­eas. The NSW Gov­ern­ment will look to re­di­rect up to $10 mil­lion from low cost mo­tels to non-gov­ern­ment or­gan­i­sa­tions to pro­vide sup­ported tem­po­rary ac­com­mo­da­tion.

Min­is­ter visit

MIN­IS­TER for Agri­cul­ture and Wa­ter Re­sources David Lit­tleproud yes­ter­day toured the OzGroup blue­berry pack­ing fa­cil­ity in Coffs Har­bour with Fed­eral Mem­ber for Cow­per Luke Hart­suyker. The Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment is work­ing with lo­cal blue­berry pro­duc­ers to grant them ac­cess to more ex­port mar­kets.

School review

THE NSW Gov­ern­ment’s an­nounce­ment of a com­pre­hen­sive review of the school cur­ricu­lum should pro­vide the re­set our school sys­tem needs to en­sure our next gen­er­a­tion of stu­dents have the skills and ca­pa­bil­i­ties re­quired in the fu­ture, the Mid North Coast NSW Busi­ness Cham­ber said yes­ter­day.

Con­ser­va­tion plan

THE NSW La­bor Op­po­si­tion called this week’s an­nounce­ment of a small 18,000ha ad­di­tion to the state’s con­ser­va­tion net­work a drop in the ocean amidst the Gov­ern­ment’s over­whelm­ing at­tacks on Na­tional Parks. That fig­ure it said rep­re­sents just 0.25 per cent of the na­tional parks es­tate.
