Late lapse costs Suns a victory
THE stuffing was knocked out of the Coffs Harbour Suns during the first match of the weekend’s road double-header.
The men’s Division 1 team looked on track to record its first win of the season when it led Manly Warringah by six points at the final break.
The lead stretched to eight points with eight minutes to play but the Sea Eagles scored 22 of the last 27 points to break Coffs Harbour’s hearts.
Mattison Devine led the Suns’ scoring, nailing five three-pointers on his way to 21.
Coming up against the stronger Central Coast Crusaders on Sunday the Suns were never in the hunt.
A run of 13 straight points early offered hope but the Crusaders upped the pace to win by a comfortable 43 points.
