North Coast team comes good at end

FIVE boys from Coffs Harbour made their way to Tamworth for the New South Wales Primary School Sport Association (PSSA) boys’ basketball carnival.

After two rounds of trials, Jack Barton, Kaspa Ngohset, Levi McGregor, Jade Kitching and Jonathon Orange were picked in the North Coast team.

The quintet had only one training session prior to the tournament with their teammates from Byron Bay, Lismore and Yamba.

Despite this, expectations were high for the boys to come together on the courts and play as a unified team.

It took the first two games for the North Coast team to find its groove and in their third game against Barrier they triumphed with a final score of 46-30.

They played outstanding defence throughout the week but their shots were just not sinking consistently to match their opponents’ scores on the board.

They ended their campaign on a high note, beating North West with a lay-up in the last minute of the game to secure a 37-35 win.
