Art finds new home in Coffs

RE­CENTLY es­tab­lished not­for-profit or­gan­i­sa­tion Planet Art Inc has of­fi­cially opened its art gallery.

Lo­cated at Park Ave Lane, the gallery will see the pro­vi­sion of art-as-ther­apy classes for teenagers and young adults with men­tal health is­sues, as well as peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties, the un­em­ployed, school-age chil­dren and oth­ers.

The art gallery also has a mis­sion to pro­mote re­gional artists in­clud­ing those from eth­nic and indige­nous back­grounds and refugees.

Although only small, the place will also be in­ter­mit­tently used as an art stu­dio by some of our lo­cal artists.

The art gallery was opened on Fri­day as part of Men­tal Health Aware­ness Month.
