CONCERNING the proposed cutting that is part of the bypass.
At the end of the day, we may well end up with it but there is nothing stopping it to become an attractive icon of Coffs Harbour.
Instead of a sloping batter, the sides of the cutting can be terraced this would create flat areas for vegetation.
With input from landscape gardeners both sides of the cutting could be made quite attractive.
Perhaps with trees, like in Sawtell, that eventually overhang the highway that would be planted on an upper terrace, not at road level.
Planting on the upper most terrace could take place in the early stage of the cutting, by the time the bypass is opened it would be well established. Ian Hamey
