I recommend having a friendly but firm conversation with your colleague about the issue. Maybe you could share some of the research available online that shows people who work in a clean, organised environment usually have lower stress levels than their messy counterparts. If the messiness continues, you could always try the old line of tape down the middle of the shared space trick, but hopefully it won’t come to that.
