I’d been a hair­dresser since I was 15. I owned sa­lons un­til I was 40. Then I did my real es­tate li­cense and set up a busi­ness with my hus­band show­ing young women how to in­vest in prop­erty. Cus­tomer ser­vice is the most im­por­tant trans­ferrable skill. Both hair­dress­ing and swim teach­ing in­volve deal­ing with peo­ple and mak­ing sure they have a won­der­ful ex­pe­ri­ence.
