TRENDS IN THE JOB MARKET
An extra 21,800 jobs are forecast to be created for waiters between 2018 and 2023, Jobs department figures show. It is a 15.8 per cent increase over the five-year period.
Trade-qualified chefs are in demand, with an extra 16,800 jobs expected to be created in this occupation, representing a 16.7 per cent increase between 2018 and 2023.
These workers complete tasks such as washing, peeling and preparing food, or cleaning utensils, dishes and benches. Within the next five years, 16,100 more kitchenhand jobs are expected to be created in Australia.
4 BARTENDER & BARISTA
People who can work a bar or coffee machine are in demand. An extra 14,100 bar attendants and baristas are expected to be needed in the next five years – up 13.4 per cent.
RESTAURANT & CAFE 5 MANAGER
An extra 9700 of these jobs are expected to be created between 2018 and 2023 – a 13.9 per cent increase in five years. Some workers climb ranks to reach management while others hold a formal management qualification.
