HEALTH THE KEY PRIORITY

The Courier-Mail - Home - - SUNSHINE COAST - BELINDA CHILTON

Living well through preventive healthcare is the catchcry of a new Sunshine Coast vertical living retirement village under construction.

Stockland’s $63 million Birtinya Retirement Village is 25 per cent complete and set to deliver a key focus on preventive health.

Stockland regional development manager Paul Keleher said he was pleased with progress on the company’s first greenfield vertical village, with completion on the eight-storey canal-side development set for early next year.

“This week we celebrated an exciting milestone – opening our new sales centre,” he said. It’s beside Izba Expresso Cafe, corner of Birtinya and Kawana Lake blvds, Birtinya.

Mr Keleher said the retirement village focused on living well via preventive health.

“We are really excited to be providing highquality services such as remedial massage and exercise classes included for residents,” he said.

“The village will also be connected by the new INS LifeGuard concierge system, giving residents access to in-home or in-village health and wellbeing services at the touch of a button.

“With the 11km of walkable waterfront at their doorstep, Opal Aged Care next door and all the facilities of the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct, residents have access for all they need to keep living well and in good health.”

The village will have 140 spacious one, two and three-bedroom apartments with storage, private parking and views. Residents will enjoy access to a two-storey clubhouse with a cafe, billiards room, library, staffed exercise and wellness centre, and an outdoor pool with covered decks and dining areas and gardens.

The first release for pre-registered buyers will start next month, with pre-registrations being taken now.

“By 2056 a quarter of our population will be over the age of 65,” Mr Keleher said.

“Vertical villages like this create options for older Australians to downsize and move into connected communities with centralised health and lifestyle services.”

Residents at Birtinya Retirement Village will have access to services such as remedial massage, exercise classes and a staffed exercise and wellness centre.
