Create interest with a variety of materials
Forget minimalism, it’s time to mix it up for a modern look that’s inviting and sets the scene for your home
The smooth, minimalist look is out and a mix of materials is in, according to Perry Homes marketing manager Kaye Durre.
Perry Homes have used a modern mix of render, timber, cladding and stacked stone features to create an awardwinning display home in Stockland’s Sovereign Pocket community in Deebing Heights near Ipswich.
Ms Durre said the contemporary ‘mixing it up’ trend was increasingly being used internally and for the exterior of new-build homes.
“Modern mixed facades are becoming very popular,” Ms Durre said. “Home owners shouldn’t underestimate the importance of their exterior home design – it sets the design style for the home you are creating inside.”
Ms Durre said the key to the latest look was to use a variety of materials and textures with light colour changes to create interesting focal points.
“Inside, two-toned kitchens are highly regarded with buyers at the moment who are opting for sharp contrasts in colour. Stone benchtops are a must,” she said.
The ‘mixing it up’ style also ticks boxes in terms of affordability.
The Deebing Heights home is the winner of the Master Builders Queensland 2017 state award for the best display home under $250,000.
“We’ve demonstrated that styling this home in this manner is a really cost effective way of creating a beautiful looking home that won’t hurt the budget,” Ms Durre said.
Sovereign Pocket at Deebing Heights offers a stylish range of house and land packages featuring the latest in design and innovation from some of Queensland’s most awarded home builders.
