A Gold Coast sales agent has launched a new app designed to help first homebuyers through the process.

The MyHomeBuy app was created by Eileen Merriman, who drew on her own experiences dealing with confused, anxious and reluctant first homebuyers to come up with the “guidebook”.

The app breaks the home buying process into seven key milestones, complete with tips and tasks for users to complete along with checklists, which are tailored depending on whether the purchaser is buying a home, land or building a house.

“There are so many tools available to help homebuyers locate or finance a property, but I was not able to find a onestop resource to assist my clients with tracking their home buying journey,” Ms Merriman said.

“Buyers have to work with agents, solicitors, builders and banks which each have their own list of priorities, and if deadlines are not met this can result in financial penalties and added stress during what should be an exciting and enjoyable time.

“I wanted to create a task-oriented app that would empower first time buyers by providing them with a framework that they could easily navigate and personalise, by adding contacts, documents, notes, images and dates pertaining to their purchase.

“The aim is to bring together all of the pieces of the home buying puzzle so first time purchasers can feel confident and in control of the process.”

Ms Merriman says she believes that buyer education is one of the key roadblocks in the current market.

She said the app was not affiliated with any institution or agency, and had no ads.

“It offers completely independent guidelines based on years of experience and real interactions with first time buyers,” she said.

The app is now available on Android and IOS (Google and Apple stores) for $5.99.
