Master Builders Queensland launched its annual Housing and Construction Awards for 2018 earlier this year, with the winners for the Gold Coast region announced at their recent awards evening.

Metricon Homes was awarded Best Display Home in the competitive over $551,000 category by Master Builders Queensland, for their display home at The Surrounds in Helensvale.

This was the Metro 31’s second award win for 2018 after winning best double storey display home in the Stockland Vibe Awards in June.

The Designer by Metricon Metro 31 will now progress to the state level round of judging, with winners announced at the Master Builders State Housing and Construction Awards in October.

Metricon Queensland general manager Peter Ryan said the team were proud of their successful history.

“At Metricon, we have a proud 40-year history of creating homes for Australian families,” he said.

“To receive this recognition for our workmanship, design, and innovation is a thrill and a credit to our Queensland team.

“Entering the Master Builders Housing and Construction Awards has allowed us to showcase what we do and how proud we are of our team.”

Mr Ryan said the second award win for this design substantiated the clever use of space in the home.

“The intelligent floorplan of the Metro 31 provides families with an abundance of space, but delivers it in a compact 31 square floorplan suitable for narrow blocks just 10.5m wide,” he said.

“Since Metricon released the design to the market, it has proven very popular with those wanting to knock down and rebuild on narrow inner city blocks, and also with those building in new estates where the land size is generally smaller.”

The house includes four bedrooms, study nook, integrated living hub, secondary leisure room upstairs, and an outdoor entertaining room, and it is on display at The Surrounds in Helensvale, showcased in the Cube facade and styled with a Scandinavian interior.
