Cop this extreme custom machine
THE pimped-out Black Amber custom truck is coming to Australia.
Scania Australia has ordered two of the highly modified special edition trucks produced in collaboration with Scania partners Svempa.
It plans to use one of the Black Amber rigs as an attention grabber on its stand at the Brisbane truck show in May.
The show truck will be a V8 R 730 Black Amber, packing a 544kW (730hp) engine which makes it the second most powerful road truck in the world behind Volvo’s 560kW (750hp) FH.
The second Black Amber truck ordered will also be fitted with a V8 engine, but this one is tuned for a stilldecent 456kW (620hp).
While the pictured Black Amber truck is a 6x2, both Australian trucks will be 6x4s with the cavernous Highline cab.
The Black Amber trucks are instantly visible as extreme custom machines, with a dark brown metallic paint scheme that also features grey flames, with orange outlines, shooting out from the air intakes and the exhaust.
The alloy wheels are a mixture of a matt black centre, chrome outer and an orange stripe.
Svempa added more stainless steel for the exhaust outlet surround and steps, while gleaming checker plate is used for the flat-top section surrounding the towing turntable.
Black leather seats, carbon black trim sections and orange V8 graphics raise the tone of the interior along with a signed and numbered wall panel.
Scania design chief Kristofer Hansen says he is happy at least two Australians will be able to own a Black Amber truck.
‘‘Whether from the outside or inside, there is no doubting the special care and attention that has gone into this limited series of trucks,’’ he says.
