A new high-per­for­mance halo car with 180kW will sit at the top of the Skoda Octavia line-up when the car is up­dated for Aus­tralia in July. The new vRS will also come with a lim­ited-slip dif­fer­en­tial and DSG gear­box for a likely $3000 pre­mium over the cur­rent RS, which ac­counts for nearly 50 per cent of Octavia sales.


The US mo­tor in­dus­try is al­ready re­spond­ing to a re­cent meet­ing with Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump, with GM com­mit­ting $US47 mil­lion in fresh in­vest­ment at its Ten­nessee and Michi­gan fac­to­ries. The move al­lows both to brag about re­tain­ing 230 man­u­fac­tur­ing jobs at GM in the US.
