Volvo is soon to boost production by using three plants in the world’s biggest car market to supply rising global demand. A new factory is under construction in the US. Meanwhile, existing production lines in Sweden and Belgium are running flat-out.
Turbo 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine, based on Volvo’s four-cylinder 2.0-litre Drive-E, is almost ready. It will go into the company’s smaller models due to appear from later this year.
Volvo promises to have its first battery-powered vehicle ready for market by 2019 but won’t say what kind of car it has in mind — but the vehicle will come to Australia.
