All-new com­pact SUV will go into pro­duc­tion late this year. It’s sched­uled to go on sale in Aus­tralia within 12 months.

Volvo is soon to boost pro­duc­tion by us­ing three plants in the world’s big­gest car mar­ket to sup­ply ris­ing global de­mand. A new fac­tory is un­der con­struc­tion in the US. Mean­while, ex­ist­ing pro­duc­tion lines in Sweden and Bel­gium are run­ning flat-out.

TRIPLE

Turbo 1.5-litre three-cylin­der en­gine, based on Volvo’s four-cylin­der 2.0-litre Drive-E, is al­most ready. It will go into the com­pany’s smaller mod­els due to ap­pear from later this year.

ELEC­TRIC

Volvo prom­ises to have its first bat­tery-pow­ered ve­hi­cle ready for mar­ket by 2019 but won’t say what kind of car it has in mind — but the ve­hi­cle will come to Aus­tralia.
