A SPECTACULAR Airlie Beach property which failed to sell at auction has now had a $10.5 million price tag attached to it.

Mandalay Coral Gardens is owned by developer Bill Sharpe and his wife, Kirsty.

The property was taken to auction through Christies Great Estates. A spokesman confirmed this week that, at the auction, the owners entered into private negotiations with a buyer for the property.

‘‘The substantial offer would have set a new benchmark for the area, however at this stage it is still below the seller’s expectations,’’ he said.

‘‘The seller has taken on board the market feedback and now has listed the property for $10.5 million.’’

The spokesman said the new price had increased the level of interest and further inspections from potential buyers were now taking place.

The 1540sq m home has a private marina berth and overlooks the Coral Sea in North Queensland.

The 4749sq m estate is on a peninsula bordered bordered by Pioneer Bay and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
