BOAST­ING a 34m frontage and cov­er­ing 448sq m, a Padding­ton cor­ner block of land sold for more than $650,000.

Mar­ket­ing agents Judi O’Dea and Michael Kleimeyer from SPACE Prop­erty said an auc­tion at­tracted eight regis­tered bid­ders and 25 peo­ple for 23 Alma St.

Auc­tion­eer Nick Pen­klis took an open­ing bid of $600,000 with 40 more bids re­ceived be­fore the ham­mer fell at $661,750.

“We had eight regis­tered bids and very strong bid­ding, in par­tic­u­lar from three cou­ples all look­ing to make it their own home,” Mr Kleimeyer said.

“The lucky pur­chasers are a young cou­ple who have a cot­tage in Padding­ton, which they were con­sid­er­ing ren­o­vat­ing, but this op­por­tu­nity arose for them to be able to build their own home.”

A work­ers’ cot­tage at 42 Gibb St, Kelvin Grove (pic­tured), sold for $751,000 to a young cou­ple mov­ing from the Sun­shine Coast for work.

The auc­tion drew 30 peo­ple and five regis­tered bid­ders with auc­tion­eer Mr Pen­klis tak­ing an open­ing bid of $650,000.

The ren­o­vated three­bed­room two-bath­room prop­erty is 2km from the Bris­bane CBD.
