Gavel drops on top block
BOASTING a 34m frontage and covering 448sq m, a Paddington corner block of land sold for more than $650,000.
Marketing agents Judi O’Dea and Michael Kleimeyer from SPACE Property said an auction attracted eight registered bidders and 25 people for 23 Alma St.
Auctioneer Nick Penklis took an opening bid of $600,000 with 40 more bids received before the hammer fell at $661,750.
“We had eight registered bids and very strong bidding, in particular from three couples all looking to make it their own home,” Mr Kleimeyer said.
“The lucky purchasers are a young couple who have a cottage in Paddington, which they were considering renovating, but this opportunity arose for them to be able to build their own home.”
A workers’ cottage at 42 Gibb St, Kelvin Grove (pictured), sold for $751,000 to a young couple moving from the Sunshine Coast for work.
The auction drew 30 people and five registered bidders with auctioneer Mr Penklis taking an opening bid of $650,000.
The renovated threebedroom two-bathroom property is 2km from the Brisbane CBD.
