BEA CH BLANKETS

The Courier-Mail - QWeekend - - THIS QUEENSLAND LIFE - P H O T O G RA PHY DAVID KELLY

Why is it so? Why do people bury themselves, or others, on beaches? What is it about the combination of an expanse of sand and leisure time

that encourages such activity? Whenever photographer David Kelly stepped onto a south-east Queensland beach over the summer months there was inevitably someone under a sandy blanket. South Korean tourists, Western Australian visitors, locals … they were all at it,

cocooned in a damp, grainy embrace.
