BUMS ON STREETS
For eight years they have met in the pre-dawn light. A core group of up to six men, their friendships formed during triathlons and ironman competitions over the past 20 years, meet every Friday from 5.30am. Aged between their mid-50s to late-60s, they cycle into the Brisbane CBD from their homes to meet at Streets Beach at South Bank for a swim and exercise session. Afterwards, they enjoy breakfast at one of the nearby cafes and then head to their respective workplaces. On Friday evenings, they meet again at one of the men’s homes for another of their passions – playing ukuleles. They are all members of Brisbane Ukulele Music Society (BUMS).
