Eco-retreat with added luxury
EASTER holidays are on Queensland’s doorstep once more and with the autumn break comes relaxing possibilities such as camping.
Outdoor items such as eskies, tarpaulins, and much more are all available in Weekend Shopper’s Camping section, with camper showers available from $35 and air pumps on offer from $30.
However, people who prefer creature comforts but also crave a bush experience can still enjoy the great outdoors.
According to Queensland Holidays, ‘glamping’ or glamorous camping is one of the fastest growing luxury accommodation options now available.
While glamping accommodation can include huts, tents, and cabins, the common factor is deluxe offerings rarely found on average camping trips.
Such offerings are a highlight of Ketchup’s Bank Glamping near Boonah, which offers a luxury tent experience for couples.
The eco-retreat provides glamping delights including queen-sized beds with 300 thread count linen, electric blankets, and doonas; fluffy bathrobes; ensuites; complementary cleaning and dishwashing; self-contained kitchens with barbecues and campfires; a gourmet food hamper service; and flat screen televisions which can play DVDS and CDS.
Plunger coffee and complementary port and marshmallows are also available.
Owner and manager of Ketchup’s Bank Glamping, Leona Taylor, said glamping was a level of camping that provided the comforts of home while taking away the hassles of camping.
“Our tents are raised on decks away from any creepy-crawlies and there are ensuite bathrooms so people don’t have to go out in the cold at night,” she said.
“We also do all the wood collecting and set up the campfires.”
Ms Taylor said while Ketchup’s Bank Glamping was currently just for couples, she had received inquiries from families as well as people of all ages who were interested in glamping.
“A huge range of people like glamping, from those who like the idea of the bush but don’t want the hassle of camping to those who have never been camping but want the experience of sitting around a campfire, sleeping in a tent, and seeing different animals,” she said.
Ketchup’s Bank Glamping has two luxury eco-tents available from $249 per night.
