Flat tyres stop thief


A WOMAN and her whip­pet show dogs were in their car­a­van when the ute that it was at­tached to was stolen and driven away.

The 28-year-old man who al­legedly stole the ute made it 10km be­fore its tyres went flat and po­lice caught up with it near Bourke, north­west NSW.

The 66-year-old woman, who suf­fered a chipped tooth, and her dogs were re­leased.

How­ever, the 68-year-old Vic­to­rian man who owned the ute and car­a­van was flown to Dubbo Base Hos­pi­tal af­ter he was al­legedly pushed from the ute and on to the road.

Sev­eral charges are ex­pected to be laid.
