SE­VERE FIGHT­ING IN GAL­LIPOLI Lon­don, Wed­nes­day – Gen­eral Sir Ian Hamil­ton re­ports that se­vere fight­ing took place in Gal­lipoli yesterday. The po­si­tions oc­cu­pied slightly var­ied in places, but as the gen­eral re­sult the area held in An­zac was nearly tre­bled, ow­ing chiefly to the gal­lantry and dash of the Aus­tralian and New Zealand Army Corps. No fur­ther progress has been made to the north, but the troops have in­flicted heavy losses on the en­emy.
