SCHOOLS that open on Satur­days, man­aged by com­pa­nies, could be the fu­ture.

Char­ter schools, which re­ceive public fund­ing while be­ing pri­vately man­aged by not-for-profit or for-profit or­gan­i­sa­tions, have been tipped as the way of the fu­ture in Aus­tralian ed­u­ca­tion in a re­port re­leased to­day by the Cen­tre for In­de­pen­dent Stud­ies.

Pol­icy an­a­lyst Tr­isha Jha said Aus­tralia’s ed­u­ca­tion achieve­ments had not im­proved de­spite fund­ing hav­ing dou­bled in the past 25 years.
