Schools run by business

SCHOOLS that open on Saturdays, managed by companies, could be the future.

Charter schools, which receive public funding while being privately managed by not-for-profit or for-profit organisations, have been tipped as the way of the future in Australian education in a report released today by the Centre for Independent Studies.

Policy analyst Trisha Jha said Australia’s education achievements had not improved despite funding having doubled in the past 25 years.
