NATASHA KICKS OFF FILM CAREER WITH LEAD ROLE
NATASHA Liu Bordizzo is about to be the next Aussie to hit the big time thanks to ticking all the right boxes for casting agents on the coming Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel.
The 21-year-old (below) was in her first year of a double degree in media law at Sydney’s UTS when she landed her first acting gig alongside Michelle Yeoh, Harry Shum Jr and Jason Scott Lee.
Now, she’s put studies on hold and is set to make her mark in a big way when Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend is released next year.
“The reason I got it was just the formula of things that not everyone has – a martial arts ability, fluent English and being the right age and look,” said Bordizzo, who has a black belt in tae kwon do.
“I feel like I pretty much won the lottery when I got the movie. Acting had always been at the back of my mind but I never really thought I could do it. It was my first audition ever and I got a lead in a movie. It is insane.”
Playing one of the lead roles of Snow Vase in the Yuen Woo-Ping- directed film required Bordizzo to also learn Wudang sword fighting.
“I had absolutely no acting experience and they liked that because they could mould me to how they like the character,” she said. “I did it all backwards. I did the film and I didn’t even have headshots.”
