Solar farm put on hold
THE State Government will reassess approval of one of the country’s largest solar farms in far north Queensland.
Deputy Premier Jackie Trad has set aside the Burdekin Shire’s approval of global firm FRV’s $400 million solar farm, which is being appealed in the Planning and Environment Court, and will reassess the massive project.
“I want to ensure that the economic and environmental interests of this part of the state are promoted and that the impacts on the viability of important agricultural industries are carefully considered,” Ms Trad said in a statement.
She is required to make a decision by November 10.
