Rossi races ahead

ITAL­IAN Valentino Rossi moved to the top of the world cham­pi­onship stand­ings with his fourth vic­tory of the sea­son when he tri­umphed in the Bri­tish Mo­toGP at Sil­ver­stone yesterday.

On a rain-drenched track, Rossi, on a Yamaha, fin­ished ahead of two Du­cati-rid­ing com­pa­tri­ots, Danilo Petrucci, who picked up the best re­sult of his ca­reer, and An­drea Dovizioso.

Aus­tralia’s Jack Miller apol­o­gised for wip­ing out LCR Honda team­mate Cal Crutchlow.

The 20-year-old rock­eted from 16th on the grid to fifth by the third lap be­fore plough­ing into Crutchlow.
