NOT even a con­so­la­tion win for Eng­land in the fi­nal Twenty20 could de­tract from the mag­ni­tude of what Aus­tralia’s cham­pi­ons have achieved this women’s Ashes se­ries.

Af­ter clinch­ing the urn in their last-start match in Brighton, the South­ern Stars fell into the same trap as Eng­land did in the dead­rub­ber fifth Test of the men’s Ashes, and were un­able to har­ness that ruth­less streak in Cardiff last night (Qld time) and lost by five wick­ets.

Ball has dom­i­nated bat all women’s Ashes and Aus­tralia once again col­lapsed to be 4-25 af­ter six overs, and then all out for 111.
