BAILEY’S RUN IN TWENTY20 OVER

- BEN HORNE

GEORGE Bailey has retired from Twenty20 cricket and will not play in next year’s World Cup tournament in India.

There has been no official announcement from Bailey (pictured), only that he was standing down as the national T20 skipper last August and would be sitting out of the summer-opening threematch series against South Africa.

But Bailey was not named in Steve Smith’s side to tackle England in Cardiff overnight. Even though he played in Australia’s last-start ODI against Ireland, Bailey wasn’t dropped for the T20, rather not considered.

Bailey has also lost his leadership position in the one-day team.

He was replaced as vicecaptain by David Warner following Smith’s ascension to the captaincy.
