Man faces new counts


ONE of the men ac­cused of steal­ing Pig­gie the echidna from a Gold Coast sanc­tu­ary is now fac­ing drug charges.

Tyson Paul Bothur, 20, ap­peared in South­port Mag­is­trates Court yesterday charged with two counts of pos­sess­ing a dan­ger­ous drug and one count of pos­sess­ing re­lated uten­sils.

Bothur, who had been charged with an­i­mal cru­elty and en­ter­ing premises with in­tent over the al­leged theft of Pig­gie from Cur­rumbin Wildlife Sanc­tu­ary last month, made no com­ment dur­ing the hear­ing. He was granted bail. The mat­ter was ad­journed un­til Septem­ber 29.
