Thrones rules world in simul­cast record


GAME of Thrones has made the Guin­ness World Records for the largest TV drama s simul­cast – episode two of sea­son five was broad­cast in 173 coun­tries si­mul­ta­ne­ously.

Maisie Wil­liams (pic­tured), who plays Arya Stark in the show, picked up the award on be­half of the cast and crew.

Singers Ed Sheeran, Tay­lor Swift and Mod­ern Fam­ily’s Sofia Ver­gara have also se­cured records.

Sheeran’s ac­co­lade is the “long­est time to reach num­ber one” on the UK sin­gles charts. His sin­gle Think­ing Out Loud took 19 weeks to top the charts.

His close friend and mu­sic star Swift has been awarded the ti­tle for most mil­lion-selling weeks on the US al­bums charts.

Ver­gara is en­joy­ing suc­cess as the high­est-earn­ing fe­male ac­tor in a cur­rent TV se­ries for the third year in a row – $21.7 mil­lion in 2014.
